UK Indoor

Derby City was represented by several athletes in the UK High School Invitational this Saturday, a National class indoor meet with a significant number of out-of-state competitors.  To provide some context, this meet produced a number of top 10 indoor HS performances -- which means that a bunch of finishers at this meet ran some of the fastest indoor times across the entire United States for a HS runner.

In the Girls 1 mile, Catherine Allen, Ashley El Rady and Caroline McCaslin competed in their Derby City AC uniforms.  Catherine was coming off a big performance at IU and ran very well to finish in 5:35 at UK.  Ashley and Caroline also ran well, with Ashley being a top finisher in her heat (in 5:27) and Caroline battling strong to run 5:38.  These were some excellent performances for each girl.

Tretez Kinnaird also competed in his Derby City uniform, finishing 2nd to former Derby City star Jacob Thomson in the Freshman boys 1 mile and just ahead of another former Derby City star Conner Sheryak.  Tre's time was a very eye-opening 4:30, a fantastic time for a freshman miler.

Lastly, Derby City had the 8th place finisher in the Girls 4 x 800m relay with Ellen Marko, Caroline McCaslin, Ashley El Rady and Allison Riedling.  These girls ran an excellent relay, with huge legs from Ellen Marko and Ashley El Rady, finishing in 10:18.

Several other Derby City kids also ran (e.g. the Hales), although under a different team name, and they did well.  Congrats to everyone.
